Welcome to SiDE ONE JAZZ's website!
SiDE ONE JAZZ has been founded to present, document, and foster the creation of instrumental jazz music that is culturally significant, of high artistic merit, innovative, and entertaining—music that, because of its considerable depth and sophistication, has limited commercial appeal and minimal means of support from the mainstream music establishment. All public performances will take place in the greater Philadelphia area in the best facilities availalble. SOJ plans to present 3 – 5 concerts annually and support will come from grants, public solicitation of donations, fundraising recitals, and revenue from ticket sales.
SiDE ONE JAZZ will also commission new compositions by some of the top composers and arrangers currently active. They will be invited to rehearse and attend the premieres of their new works and, when possible, will give talks on their music. SiDE ONE JAZZ will also present special-event concerts featuring renowned guest artists.
